Sandy Bay and the Ngunguru Bar are the coast’s most popular surfing spots. You can hire boards and/or take lessons through Tutukaka Surf Company in Ngunguru and Tutukaka Marina.  Beginners, families, groups and experienced surfers are all welcome.

Having owned a number of properties in and around the Tutukaka coast since 1985, Peter and Tina Vink are well known to many and have extensive knowledge and a very strong connection to the Northland region.

Peter and Tina’s many endeavours include the building and establishing in 1992 of the world renowned Schnappa Rock Restaurant and Bar on the Tutukaka Marina which hosted many successful events and functions enjoyed by many and included some outstanding international celebrities.

Peter was also the founding member of the Tutukaka Coast Promotions Inc, where he served as president for the first three years and still holds a seat on the executive to this day. The main focus of this group, and one of the driving forces behind its creation, was the idea of establishing the Tutukaka Coast as the Diving Capital of New Zealand. They organised the purchase and dismantling of two large ex-navy ships and saw them successfully scuttled on our coast to create artificial reefs for all to enjoy.

In September 2003 an offer Pete felt was too good to refuse was made on Schnappa Rock. This gave Pete and his family, which by this stage included two daughters, the opportunity to take 12 months off and take in some overseas travel and the remodelling of an older home in Glenbervie where they all still live.

2004 saw Peter make a successful move into coastal real estate when, in a very short space of time, he became the leading agent on the coast, marketing and selling consistently more properties than any other agent in the region. Now with a number of awards under his belt Peter continues to build his presence on the coast to the point that if there is ever anything you need to know about the Tutukaka Coast and its people, Pete’s the man to ask – he is certainly an excellent candidate to approach when considering buying or selling coastal properties.
