Mindful Movement – holistic active healing linking body and mind
Robyn previously owned 2 Physiotherapy practices, in Rotorua and here on the Tutukaka coast. She values this background, giving ‘Movement for Life’. Now, Robyn is following her passion ‘Exercise is the best medicine’, creating community support encouraging people to be pro-active in their fitness.
Awareness is the key to our long term function and wellness. Robyn is a specialised practitioner in the promotion of safe physical activity, yet encouraging people to go to their ‘challenge point’. Her point of difference is teaching people to learn about their body and the reason for their injury or ‘weakness’ – from here they begin to heal themselves, developing understanding and acceptance, learning modifications and appropriate levels of exercise. Postural alignment awareness corrects muscle imbalance, preserves joint surfaces. Balance and co-ordination awareness help us all, from athletes to those who have suffered a stroke. Robyn loves the challenge of helping with chronic injuries and rehabilitation following surgery, providing early consistent rehab.

As an active person, Robyn now understands the right balance of energy expenditure. Learning about ourselves, how our body shows anxiety, how our mind interprets pain, is crucial to being in control.
Nordic Walking Groups
The poles can be used for extra stability in older people, or for added propulsion in those younger. The Pole action enables more core stabilisation and upper body movement. Sessions also involve exercises for warming up, technique and cooling down.
“We are so fortunate to live on the Tutukaka Coast, getting out and about all year round, keeping our bones strong, with a variety of beautiful walks, on low tide days we are at the beach, on high tide days we are in the bush or farm walking.”
