An aquatic social club based at Tutukaka Marina. Whangarei Deep Sea Anglers Club (WDSAC) members come from fishing, diving, yachting circles and local residents. At present we have over 1,300 members with many of these member’s friends and tourists, using and enjoying the Club amenities, providing a warm and friendly convivial atmosphere, only minutes from the fishing and blue water that are envied by anglers and divers worldwide. Our Club features Summahs Bistro, bars, lounge area and a large outdoor deck with seating overlooking the marina.
The WDSAC is one of the longest established and most successful gamefishing clubs in New Zealand. The club was founded by Captain L.W. Waldron in 1945 and was among the five original clubs that formed the New Zealand Big Game Fishing Council in 1957. Since our humble beginnings at Parua Bay, and later relocation to the renowned fishing grounds of Tutukaka, the club has continued to grow and played a leading role in the growth of the Council and Sport in New Zealand.
Our club has an enviable fishing record with many National and World records having been captured in the waters off Tutukaka including the all tackle World Record Striped Marlin of 224.1kg – Tutukaka can justifiably claim to be the “Home of the Striped Marlin”.
All visitors are welcome. You are also welcome to join our club and have full use of our facilities, and enjoy reciprocal visiting rights to many fishing clubs around the world.
